its been a while since i last updated my blog, just came back from phuket, enjoying a break from work now as i took leave for the rest of the week. seems to me that i have come to another junction of life. many have made turns at this junction, well i'm still thinking, and thinking and thinking(as usual) deciding which turn to make.

its funny how times have changed. took a taxi yesterday from airport and was greeted by a lady probably early 30s or late 20s. "good afternoon, welcome back home,where can i take you today?" wow its a total change from the usual "ah di yao qu na li, or ai kee toh lou" after we alighted, she said "bye! have a good rest!" its coming to a point where i'm almost at the age of taxi drivers heh damn

blogs are also dead, nobody updates anymore, i guess mine will be dead soon, everyone busy working, studying, getting married or having babies haha hopefully the outings will still continue!

31st dec, nye, this year will be a little different from the past. took 1/4 day off, rush off to hdb to collect keys! yes! another 5% of downpayment paid and now i'm officially poorer again haha but then again we got this!
comes with a cool leather case and 4 access cards for the sky garden

well the different thing about this year's countdown is that i will probably be counting down in nuh.... not! hopefully, at least for now haha had a call at 3pm then went off to jurong pt for dinner

went out with xx yesterday after work, had a great meal at TGI Fridays, seems like a new outlet occupying the space where the balcony used to be @ heeren. quite a number of angmos.
xx ordered her chicken/shrimp pasta
and my jack daniels' angus steak! they even asked me to cut the steak to check if it is properly grilled to medium rare. very good stuff!

booked avatar 3d tickets at 930pm, had some time so went to walk around
found the roof garden of orchard central, all the way up 12 levels.

915pm, went on to cine to catch the movie, initially i tot it was some dumb movie with blue aliens so over used, but i was wrong
the movie is an interesting mix of "the matrix", "lost", "the last samurai" and yes "pokemon" haha catch the show and u will know what i mean. the 3d effect and the pandora world was really fascinating, james cameron is a real visionary. i was totally immersed in their world and the movie brought up some environmental issues and how evil/selfish human beings can be. overall a nice action sci-fi movie worth watching, one of the best movies of 2009 apart from "the dark knight". 9.5 oats, go catch it now! the 3d version of course.

nice long weekend for me to enjoy, started with christmas eve, had a nice family lunch with my grandparents at asian moon bistro. went out with xx to marina area after that for dinner/movie.
first up dinner @ mof, jap food!

after the show, headed out to esplanade area, avoided orchard area coz it was gonna be a madhouse there, indeed, much more peaceful and walkable at the esplanade area. some choir singing christmas carols

got a little hungry and went to have a quick bite at popeyes, they serve the best mashpotatoes!

decided to sneak to our new place after christmas dinner even though we haven't gotten our keys yet, hdb quite jian though, set up erp parking already to collect money! the carpark is quite narrow, probably need to get a small but powerful sports car next time hahaha

A little surprise with canale cake and birthday card on friday followed by a nice meal on 14 nov itself. wanted to go longbeach @ dempsey but came across this crowded seafood place along clementi road. realised it was rong guang, same as the one at alexandra village hawker so decided to give it a try
their signature dish, rong guang chilli crab, not as big as the ones in turf club but gravy is definitely unique, thicker and sweeter than the usual, shiok when eaten with the fried man tou
the usual sting ray, delicious
and abit kangkong to balance the meal
a satisfied sun-burnt customer heh

caught the movie 2010 at midnight, didn't know it was 2.5hours long, pretty standard armageddon movie plot, build up to climax, hero try to save the day, kokups happen blah blah but overall entertaining movie which kept me up throughout the show, special effects were brilliant! a little unbelievable but still fantastic! 8 oats! and the movie ended off with this

this is why he should have won ami! sounds abit like xiao jing teng's song haha

over the past years, i have always tried to strike a balance between love and friendship, i didn't want to be labelled as zhong se qing you, feared that if i dun spend time with my friends, nobody will jio me out next time. and in doing so, disputes occasionally arise but i continue pursue that balance hurting love in the process. but after giving it some thought, i realised that giving 100% to love, love returns 110%, giving 100% to friendship on the other hand doesn't even guarantee 100% of returns. well i shall try to shift the balance and love love more, sorry if i had shortchanged you in the past years, i will do better. maybe i should be selfish and consider a 2 seater in the future

finally, the tough week past, survived the weekend call... it was horrible, no more weekend calls for me! the money ain't worth it. rather do 2 weekdays. had a gd time sleeping and slacking with xx yesterday haha too nuah already

today, went with xx to orchard ion for our monthly massage. massage was pretty gd today, more force used than last month. every visit to spa elements is like a lesson in tcm. the masseuses there are mainly from china and all of them seem to be tcm trained. they would explain to me all the tcm stuff during the massage. today, she mentioned that my kidney quite weak, alot of toxins in my body so suggested to help me remove them. hmmm ok since i had a tough week, why not?haha so well i went for it and this resulted...

so during the massage, they used these rounded glass bottles, heated them and stuck them on my back. this is suppose to help suck out my "du(2)" the bottles sucked and sucked till it hurt a little and became numb. at end of the session, she said that those weaker areas will look black and boy it is black! blue black! i still have no idea how creating echymosis can remove toxins from my body...

had a good meal at Big O then did some shopping. Went to play guitar hero at cine, a little disappointed as most of the songs were unfamiliar. went back to junction 8 for hair cut, pizza hut and back to nuahing again hehe

f1 fever hits town last weekend, was there on friday with xx and sat with ws thanks to sw the bsb fan. borrowed daniel's L lens for the event, had a tough time chasing after the extremely quick f1 machines. but i must say, it was a very nicely organised events with so many performances filling the gaps between the races except for the cancelled katy perry concert. food and merchandise were too expensive though, but expected for such an event. all in all, it was a successful event and congrats to lewis hamilton(who i thought was a thing of the past)for winning the event.

fantastic long weekend

it was a packed long weekend indeed! kicked off "the time traveler's wife" at cine with xx, it is the slowest scifi movie i have ever seen, but ok la story not too bad just that the pace was a little too slow for me. 7 oats.

saturday started with tien tien and david's wedding, nicely done at marriot, congrats guys! went on to meet xx, went to travel fair. with my usual style of "shopping", we spent probably 3-4 hours hunting for the best deal and finally settled with ctc for a trip to egypt! woohoo collected L lens from daniel then met the rest at cine for inglorious basterds at 9.30. typical tarantino film, usual retro oriental-western music in the background with occasional violence and gore and jokes. though the pace is slow, violence and some funny scenes makes up for it heh 7.5 oats

sunday was spend at xx's place, followed by tennis and import nights! cars were the same, was expecting more race queens but dunno where all of them disappeared to, maybe we went too late, was quite difficult taking photos too shall post some after i am done with editing. headed to brewerks after s.i.n. for a little supper and soccer.

monday went with xx to meet michael chan for our actual day photography, very nice and friendly guy, highly recommended! made the deal! another item to strike off from the wedding to-do-list

just some updates to keep dusts off this blog, brought xx to seletar sunset grill before the place closes down. it was her first trip there, so we tried level 3, still it was potent enough to make my nose run, she didn't seem to have any problems with the buffalo wings though, gonna up the level in the next visit heh

happy with her wings, no sweat! xiaxue was with her angmoh bf too, very bright hair she has

after our dinner, went for a spin to seletar airport and to yishun dam, a place for car clubs to hangout. nothing exciting there that night, only a handful from vios club.

took leave on friday, went to grandparents place in the morning to show them wedding photos, headed to queenstown poly to visit sw and ww, had sap done too, very gd no pain. just had 2 spots of stains left on my #11 lol i'm so fon. nicely renovated. went to chinatown to scout for holiday packages. had massage with xx at spa elements in orchard ion followed by a fantastic meal at canale, very gd food, highly recommended.

colgate screenings started for me this weekend at westmall, just the usual, a little bored so started taking photos haha

just some updates,it was a packed week. went to bottle tree park last sunday for some prawn fishing action. ok not so much of action, we didn't do too well.

eagerly anticipating a catch, i had a tug but the smart prawn manage to escape.

and 2nd and 3rd with vincent catching our 4th prawn, 4 in 2.5 hours... fantastic... sw - 3, vin - 1, the rest 0! haha

this week was also fdi week, had a short break from work, managed to catch final destination 3d on one of the days, plot wise no difference from the previous series but the effect of screws and knives flying at you is really good. on the last day of fdi, went with ws to fy's place for some photoshoot with cotton

28 august 1999, 五月天 held their first concert in taiwan. 10 years later, they are still going strong and on the exact same date 28 august, they promise to entertain their fans till 12 midnight and boy they did! brilliantly!

xx and i went on to meet her friends wy and yw for dinner @ kallang before getting into the indoor stadium.
inside, a white screen covered the entire set, keeping us in anticipation

then the lights went off and the stadium became a huge movie theatre, screening the intro to the concert proper, it was a car chase scene showing the 5 guys escaping, they could have used a sportier looking car haha
then at the climax of the chase when they crashed, there was some pyrotechnic explosion and the screen fell revealing a nicely designed stage comprising of several huge monitors and other complex looking stuffs
the car they drove in the video became part of the set as well
then the songs began!!

there was a passage way for them to go up close to the audience
a huge globe was formed in the middle of the concert and became part of the screen for special effects

there were the usual solo performances by each of the members

lasersss

then the foams came out and everyone thought it was the end of the performance
but no no no, with the usual encores, they came back to perform! again and again and again! i think there were 3 encores haha

and they didn't stop at midnight, they continued on till around 12.15am before

very satisfied fans!

i believe this is the longest concert i've ever been to, 3.5 hours is no joke! esp for a rock band! i feel tired for them haha actually i was tired myself, jumping to the song 离开地球表面 zapped most of my energy haiz need more exercise. xx and her gang seem so full of energy haha i guess the special thing about 五月天 is that they are all decent rockers, something you don't get very often, no association with sex and drugs. they had a temporary hiatus a few years back because of national service and not because of suicide or whatever. their songs relate very well to teenagers and adults even touching topics we encounter daily like dreams, love, friendships, ambitions, etc etc, the positive stuff.
go 五月天! kick those boy bands' asses!

nothing to do on friday night, thought of putting my 450d to use again since its been collecting dusts, was surfing around when i came across the singapore night festival website, there was gg to be fireworks, performances, free entry to musuem. sounds kinda exciting, changed and zoomed off to town. when i got there, it was already packed with crowds, had to squeeze my way through to get a spot, as usual, i hear remarks from ppl behind me "wah so tall", "alamak, yi shan hai bi yi shan gao" hahaha too bad, i was quite far back already, u want u can squeeze to the front! and at 1030, the show started...

some display of high tech games
there was a street fighter 4 contest with contestants coming from japan and korea. very very skillful.

rushing to put on my uniform to book in on time. to think one moment i'm enjoying atas high tea buffet in ritz carlton, the next day i have to squat by the bushes eating packet rations under the hot sun haizz... as usual, wait to rush, rush to wait. to make things worse, it started raining with lightning, training had to be stopped, and there i was, rotting and stoning for almost the whole day till night time. well, at least i survived the overnight field camp! wohooo! back to civilisation

its been a loong looooong time since i last blogged, have been procrastinating i guess, like every other things haha some random pics from the past few weeks (not in chronological order, coz i can't remember hahaha)
ah peng, funny lady working at wdls, loves to disturb ppl haha was celebrating both nora and her bday together with farewell of daniel and alex

awesome looking car, ok not so much of the car but the 2 tone paint, turns from blue to purple when light shines on it, not sure if its legal
caught in the act! cockroaches having sex hahaha usually i let them run away, but this act will produce many more, so i decided to get rid of them, quite funny, after hitting them, they try to escape, they run in opposite directions but they are stuck! so in the end the stronger one drags the other but of course it is slowed down.

there was one night that i went out supper with sr, sw and muffin at west coast mac, took some photos there

managed to take leave on friday, went out with xx. had wan ton mee at coffeeshop, then went on to Spa Elements for our monthly massage. i got this masseuse called tai ping who is very gd at finding muscle knots. once located, she will massage the knot to release it. although its quite painful, it really feels shiok after the whole massage. they are shifting to orchard ion soon, so prices gonna increase but we are not affected coz we got package =D
saw this zara poster in the store, somehow, it reminded me of resident evil zombies...

after lunch, watched night @ the museum 2, some parts were funny but somehow i fell asleep towards the end, i think the massage is too effective. went on to shop and xx got me this!

Few months back, i blogged about getting tickets to Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy.
it was reported in the papers back then that the 2 shows were fully sold out and had to open an additional matinee show for the Singapore Arts Festival. Not surprising as this is the asian premiere. there were many foreigners who flew to singapore just to catch the performance. lucky me, i manage to get 2 tickets for the matinee show before it was sold out the next day.

xx and i, about to enter the concert all, lots of young ppl haha but hey i am young too! this was how the orchestra setup looks like, couldn't take any photos inside, they were very strict with photography, esp when i was sitting by the side, the usher was just beside me... the symphony orchestra at the front, choir behind and the screen showing clips from the games. with clips from older ff1 all the way to the newer ff11, one can really see the development of the video gaming industry. from pixelated boxy characters to beautifully rendered 3d heroes, technology has come a long way

the conductor was arnie roth, grammy award winner. when the first piece started, i was like wow, suddenly feel emo, its like the memories started flooding through my mind. NO game series has ever been so powerful like this one, especially final fantasy 7.

I started playing FF7 in sec 1. unlike games such as mario, sonic (instead of just jumping on mushrooms, rushing around collecting rings) final fantasy is just so epic. There is so much plot within the game. Colourful characters, intense storyline, huge world to explore, it really puts u in an adventure u will never find in the real world. being only 13 yrs old, didn't really understand what guy girl love was about. the game did reveal some to me then. especially the scene where the female lead actually died (shouldn't games have happy endings for the couples? not this one), together with the music composed by Nobuo Uematsu, it really made me shed a tear or 2 back then

listening to aerith's(the female lead) theme yesterday did made me feel abit emo, i could still remember vividly the scene haiz so sad

During the intermission, we went out to buy the cd. initially the guy said sold out! but he was not fast enough as i saw him covering up the cds. he explained that he has to keep some to sell for the night performance but in the end, he sold it asking me not to tell anyone haha

mine mine mine!! hehe

they played songs from the final fantasy series 1 to 11, but mostly from 7 and 8, including the popular song "eyes on me"as sang by faye wong but it was the instrumental version, captivating nonetheless. surprise surprise, Nobuo Uematsu, the guy who composed ALL the songs from ALL the final fantasy series came for the concert as well, what a talented genius. dressed in some traditional jap outfit and socks + slippers, he cheekily went to join the choir for the ultimate encore piece "one winged angel".

this is truly one symphony orchestra performance i really love and the ticket price of $40 is really a steal, i wouldn't mind spending $100 next time if the show returns again.

more irritating news, stupid hdb staff rejected my appeal... arghh and i can't believe how how how how spoonfed singaporeans are. today, a fon demanded to see a senior today to complain... and u won't believe how stupid the complain is. somehow the appointment slot for next year is not open yet, so ppl who are given appts next year will have to wait till a later date, call in to book their own appt. this guy not happy, ask why is the system sucks? what if i forget to call, then my appt delayed? wtf? its your own teeth dude, not the government's. u have a phone, whats the organiser for? and he insisted on us making a note of his appt and book for him when the appt slots are open... wht a f**ker...

ARGHHHH what a f*cking way to start the f*cking week... all thanks to a f*cking guard at h*u poly!! f*ck! last week i ren already this week tmd give me trouble again! the poly has 2 sides of carpark lots, i parked on the left side last week, this asshole come and tell me say left for medical side, go park at the right, WTF! does it really make a difference left or right when the entrance to the poly is just a few steps away!!??? ok nm, i just got back into the car again and move the the right, nm... thanks to sr's recommended online movie streaming website, i caught watched a little bit "Batbabe: the Dark Nightie". i was expecting some lame comedy but gosh its worse haha but gd in certain aspects ;D

was at the new tampines 1 on mayday for dinner, the place was packed with ppl, decided to try this new restaurant called say-chez, supposed to be famous for cheese cakes, a few interesting dishes caught our eye

wacky lychee, deep fried lychee with chicken stuffings, 1st bite of course u feel the crispy outer layer, next comes the sweetness from the lychee, followed by the savoury chicken filling, very unique experience.

xx decided to have her usual salmon
while i chose baby ribs with coffee sauce, cheesy macroni and sauteed mushrooms as sides. not too bad.
this is their recommended strawberry cheesecake shake, nice!

saturday, after tennis, went down to arab street for supper. went into an egyptian restaurant. had a glass of...
hibiscus juice! very refreshing, taste like a mix of ribena and cranberry
had something which started with S, its like a lamb roll.

walked around arab st, very happening place at night, everyone smoking shisha. went into haji lane, saw a large purple massage sign, with a welcome sign on a banana haha looks abit suspicious.
settled down on one of the "magic carpet" for shisha.

enjoyed my cup of turkish apple tea, reminded me of the beautiful turkey trip.
had a nice chat with the boss too, very friendly guy from turkey, married a singaporean and built up his own business here, a chain of turkish restaurants! shared with us his business tips too heh

at around 2+, the sky turned red and there was lightning, decided to head back before the downpour begin, which did soon after.

caught cats just a while ago, well its all about the cats! literally. there wasn't much plot, not as intense as phantom of the opera, but the dances and stunts were quite gd. i was really lost in the 1st half of the show as there wasn't much narration, 99% of the musical was presented in songs. but thanks to the programme book that xx bought, i was back in the story again haha well this is the only song i knew before watching cats and probably the one i can remember after the show =D fantastic song!

after dinner, was on our way to the restrooms when the crowds started making noise, jackie chan and daniel wu were in town promoting their new movie, shinjuku incident. too bad dun have my slr with me, can only make do with my viewty phone cam.

finally caught the movie detroit metal city, had no idea what this show was about until ivan told me the plot. couldn't have guess from its poster that this is a comedy haha the lead actor is also the same person as the guy who played L in deathnote, Kenichi Matsuyama. he is very good! able to copy the original anime characters. all the mannerisms, poses, walking styles really identical to the characters in the anime version.

some of xx's movie selections last 2 weeks

interesting movie, departures, for a moment i thought, are the japanese's english really that bad? just like the up coming comedy with the punchline "lets handsome!" shouldn't it be departed or something since its like a funeral show. then the movie explained itself, as a typo error in a newspaper ad which led to the actor getting his unexpected job. this is a really deep one, i could only appreciate the funny parts hahacouldn't really feel the sadness. overall, a slow movie but provides an insight to japanese culture. 7.5 oats!now this one! i know xx has been wanting to watch this all along since she has ALL the novels in the series. a chickflick it is, hilarious it is. now i know what women do when they go window shopping. they talk to mannequins!! how weird are they?? hahaha it also tells of how one should to step out of their comfort zones and try new stuff, who knows, happiness/success could be waiting there! 8.2 oats for a delighful entertaining comedy

took leave on friday and saturday to have a super long weekend break. friday went down to hdb to sign lease, my cpf is offically empty now hehe saturday headed to ecp after lunch. the weather started off good. went around cycling and taking photos with xx

I was a very happy man. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been
dating for over a year, and so we decided to get married. There was
only one little thing bothering me...It was her beautiful younger
sister. My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very tight

One day her "little" sister called and asked me to come over to check
the wedding invitations. She was alone when I arrived, and she
whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she
couldn't overcome. She told me that she wanted me just once before I
got married and committed my life to her sister.

Well, I was in total shock, and couldn't say a word. She said, "I'm
going upstairs to my bedroom, and if you want one last wild fling,
just come up and get me." I was stunned and frozen in shock as I
watched her go up the stairs. I stood there for a moment, then turned
and made a beeline straight to the front door. I opened the door, and
headed straight towards my car.

Lo and behold, my entire future family was standing outside, all
clapping! With tears in his eyes, my father-in-law hugged me and
said, "We are very happy that you have passed our little test. We
couldn't ask for a better man for our daughter. Welcome to the
family." And the moral of this story is:
